Alberta’s French-speaking population is the fastest growing language community in the province due to immigration and inter-provincial migration.

We recognize the importance of helping these individuals to integrate in their new physical and social environment to maintain or improve their health.

Dialogue femmes francophones de l'Albert
( Dialogue French-speaking women of Alberta )

2006

"Dialogue femmes francophones de l'Alberta" is a study of needs of women based on the health determinants. A follow-up to the study will include priotization of actions to undertake with social services, government agencies and partners. Databases of services in French will then be set up.

Newcomers' Centre

2003

The Association multiculturelle de l'Alberta and l'ACFA régionale d'Edmonton partnered to create a Newcomers' Centre in Edmonton.

The overall objective was to facilitate the social integration of French-speaking newcomers by providing them:

Individual and group sessions about customs and laws of the country of adoption

Help them discover the French-speaking community of Edmonton

Link them to French-speaking and other community resources

Provide coaching and translation as needed.

Develop other initiatives with the local community

Collaborate with the Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord to facilitate school integration.

Work with the Provincial Secretary of the Association Canadienne-française de l'Alberta to develop the immigration sector.
